Recognising people who have helped with our websites
Border Collie Rescue began to design and provide content for their own Website to help promote better care and understanding of the breed in June 1999.
At that time no-one in the organisation had any experience of the Internet or of Website design and maintenance.
Now the charity has four individual websites, all run in house.
It has been a steep learning curve with a lot of help from the parties below.
Our first website was set up and
hosted by Stuart Watson of
Succeed Systems - now
Aspire Web Media (Based in Wimbledon, Surrey) Internet Service Providers.
Stuart came across an article about us in a national newspaper and
was impressed by the dedication and history the charity.
He
called us and offered to help us set up internet access, email, and provide
and register our domain, help us design our first website, host it
and to act as IT consultant, as and when appropriate, all free of charge.
Since then Stuart has continued to host our websites,
provide email, and re-register our various domains as renewal comes
up.He has done this all
without any cost to Border Collie Rescue and we are extremenly
grateful for his generousity.
Additional
contributions on the technical side have come from Ted Wray of
Trinity
Video, Nigel Cooke, Don Foyle, Chris Baron, Paul Baron, Doug Lever,
Ian Paterson (for his help with coding and Java), Nicki Oliver for
photographs
and Mike from The Rural Sound Collective for audio assistance.
The content of this,
and our other websites have also been provide free of charge.
We are grateful for the co-operation of a large number of companies and individuals who have supplied
articles, information, images, cartoons, animation's and other material to help in the presentation of this site
and the people who have spent time researching suitable and
informative webpages for our websites link to.
There are too many to list here, but credit has been given where the contributions appear.
Websites are of little use unless
there are computers to design and create them on, process images
and videos for them and access the internet to upload and
maintain them.
There are also people and companies who have
donated hardware, software and services over the last two
decades to make this happen. They know who they are and we are
grateful to them for their donations.
Our thanks, regards and best wishes
go out to all who have helped and who are helping us to help so many dogs and people around the world through
our website facilities.
We welcome offers of contribution from
genuine people who wish to help us improve our content.
The BCR Webmaster is volunteer Mike Cooke and any
contributions, comments or suggestions regarding this site can be communicated using the Contact Border Collie Rescue link at the top of the page.
At Border Collie Rescue we are all volunteers because we have a passion for the breed - not just a liking or a respect or an admiration or a feeling of kindred spirit - we have all of that and more.
We feel strongly about the abuse and exploitation the breed has suffered and is suffering, particularly in these enlightened times.
We want to change this..............
We want to hear from others who feel the same.
