Standard terms for Adopting a dog from Border Collie Rescue
During the trial period you must update us weekly on progress and
advise us immediately of any problems.
1)
I will maintain the dog in proper quarters, with adequate and
suitable bedding, diet, exercise and stimulation and should it
appear ill, or is injured at any time, I will immediately seek and
follow the advice of a qualified veterinary surgeon and apply
remedial treatment to the dog according to that advice and
diagnosis. I also understand the importance of inoculations and I
will ensure the dog receives its annual booster inoculations at the
appropriate times and undertake to apply worming and parasite
treatment on a regular basis to prevent such infections occurring.
2)
Should I become unable to keep the dog, for any reason, I will
return the dog to Border Collie Rescue by prior appointment and I
will not part with possession of the dog to any other person or organisation. I undertake to keep BorderCollie Rescue informed of
my current address at all times and, should I move, to notify Border
Collie Rescue of my new address and contact details, in writing, at
least 7 days prior to the move. I undertake to ensure that the dog
will live, with me, at the address I have registered with Border
Collie Rescue.
3)
I will allow any authorised BCR representative, at any reasonable
time, access to my property to inspect the dog and the dogs living
quarters and I agree to feed, keep and house the dog to the
charities satisfaction and if conditions prove to be unsatisfactory,
I agree to Border Collie Rescue removing the dog from my care.

maintaining appropriate weight and condition: not to chain the dog
except when absolutely necessary, where a running line shall be
used: not to leave the dog alone for extended periods; not to use
the dog for breeding or commercial purposes without
the prior written consent of Border Collie Rescue and at all times
to comply with current welfare legislation as may
from time to time apply.

I will undertake to ensure the dog wears a disc bearing my details
as currently required by law. I will also ensure these details
include the dogs BCR reference number and the main BCR contact
number. Micro chip details will always include BCR main contact
number as 1st contact and my own as 2nd contact.
6) If the dog becomes lost or missing I will
notify the Dog Wardens and BCR within 24 hrs. If I suspect the dog
has been stolen I will additionally notify the Police and give the
incident number to BCR within 24 hrs.
7)
I understand this dog is being adopted by me as guardian and keeper
for as long as I am able to keep it, and will remain under the
supervision of Border Collie Rescue for the rest of its life. I will
allow BCR to reclaim the dog if the terms of this agreement are not
being reasonably adhered to or if I am
found in breach of animal
welfare laws.
